DigiMine, a high-end data services company founded by former Microsoft employees, will officially launch this month.
DigiMine’s hosted data-mining and analytic services will provide marketers with insights into customer behavior on their sites. The idea is that it isn’t just about measuring eyeballs anymore; a company has to know everything that is happening on its site, said Nick Besbeas, executive vice president of marketing and co-founder of DigiMine, Kirkland, WA.
“You can see how many people go into a product section, how many put a product in a basket and go on to fill that order,” he said. “We can help them measure from step to step to see what happens in that process.”
Since digiMine is a hosted application that can be deployed in less than 48 hours, Besbeas said it reduces the load on a company’s IT professionals.
A client company sends its site data to DigiMine each night. “Our system picks up the data sources (and) compresses and encrypts them,” Besbeas said. “It processes it by 6 a.m. the next day. A (marketer) comes in and logs on to DigiMine to get a complete set of reports as to what happened on the site the day before.”
The company, which was founded in March, has already had its services beta-tested by a number of clients, including AllRecipes.com.
It is expected to announce today an additional $20 million in financing on top of the $5 million it raised in its first round of funding. DigiMine’s competitors include WebTrends, Personify and IBM. Pricing begins at $5,000 a month.
