FUNDING ROUNDS: FILTERED, TORC

Recent funding rounds include a $10 million financing for hiring platform Filtered and $5 million in seed capital for talent marketplace Torc.

Filtered

Filtered announced a $10 million in financing. Filtered’s features include screening of workers, technical assessment tests, and candidate authentication and verification tools for technical interviews.

The round was led by AI Fund, Silicon Valley Data Capital and TDF Ventures.

Founded in 2018, the Boston-based startup provides skills-based interviewing, testing and assessing of candidates.

In June 2021, Filtered announced $7 million in strategic seed funding from the AI Fund and Silicon Valley Data Capital.

Filtered also announced that Dan Finnigan will join the company as CEO. He previously held CEO roles at Yahoo, HotJobs and Jobvite.

In addition, Usama Fayyad, executive director of the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University and chairman at Open Insights, will join Filtered’s board; his AI and data expertise includes chief data officer at Yahoo and global chief data officer at Barclays Bank.

“As companies hire from around the globe, they need to embrace a new standard for technical interviews that evaluates what candidates can actually do, instead of relying on biased algorithms, where an individual went to school, or their employer history,” Finnigan said.

Torc

Talent marketplace Torc announced March 1 its public launch and funding from Recognize and Asymmetric Capital Partners. Torc connects businesses with software developers based on enterprise demands and developer productivity.

Recognize and Asymmetric Capital Partners invested $5 million in seed capital to launch Torc and scale the business.

Michael Morris is co-founder and CEO of Torc; he is an economic software development expert and former CEO of crowdsourcing marketplace Topcoder.
