Finance & Technology, Partners for Growth 9 June 2015, Four Seasons Hotel, Beirut
Euromoney’s Lebanon Conference will take place in Beirut on Tuesday 9 June. This brand new event comes at an exciting time as Lebanon seeks to become a regional hub for innovation and technology start-ups. Euromoney – the leading global financial media, research and data group – will bring together a stellar line of speakers to discuss how these start-ups will be financed, how they will grow and what needs to happen to make them regional powerhouses.
Governor H.E. Mr RiadSalamé will be joined by H.E. Dr Alain Hakim the Minister of Economy and Trade in Lebanon, to deliver the opening addresses. This will be followed by live Euromoney interviews with key financiers: SaadAzhari, Chairman of BLOM Bank and Freddie Baz, board member and group strategy director of Bank Audi.
We will then set the scene with a macro economic and financial sector overview, putting Lebanon’s economic picture in the context of global events.
In our digital debate we will pose an important question to our speakers and audience – “how can technology be a real game changer in Lebanon?”
Debating this question will be Usama Fayyad, formerly Yahoo!’s chief data officer and executive VP and now chief data officer at Barclays Bank and chairman of Oasis500. Oasis500 is a tech start-up investment fund that runs an accelerator, entrepreneurship training program, and angel investment network that aims to fund 500 internet and technology start-ups in the MENA region.
Usama will be joined by Henri Asseily, managing partner of Leap Ventures, the first growth stage venture capital firm in Lebanon and the MENA region and British Ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Mr Tom Fletcher. This month Ambassador Fletcher and Governor Salamé opened the UK Lebanon Tech Hub, an initiative between the UK Government and the Lebanese Central Bank. It will work actively to promote Lebanese start-ups and entrepreneurs, creating links between London and Beirut. We invite you to join our digital debate on twitter (#EMLebanon).
The inaugural Euromoney Lebanon Conference is supported by the Banque du Liban and the Capital Markets Authority. Lead Sponsors are Bank Audi and Blom Bank. BankMed and MEVP are supporting organisations.
