Will Beeson talks to Usama Fayyad about big data strategy, and draws on his experience with Yahoo, Microsoft and various financial institutions.

On the Rebank podcast this week, we’re joined by Usama Fayyad, CEO of Open Insights, a US-based data strategy and technology company. Usama also serves as CTO of Stella.AI, a Mountain-View-based VC-funded startup, and as interim chief operations & technology officer for new, innovation-focused division of MTN, Africa’s largest telecommunications provider.

From 2013-2016, Usama was chief data officer at Barclays. He remains active in UK banking as a special adviser to the board of Nationwide, the world’s largest building society. From 2004-2008, Usama was chief data officer at Yahoo.

Usama has a PhD in computer science and engineering, and holds adjunct professorships and university advisory positions on three continents.
